Is Taxing Pop Really a Solution?

Okay first of all.. after the first couple of second of that video, i stopped it. That is just disgusting. It makes me think twice about drinking pop ever again. When i was younger i drank pop alot, but then a couple years ago, i really started to hate it because it causes yellowy teeth and just plain ickyness. This scare campaign is effective, i think. If people watch that, hopefully they will realize what has to be done. Yes, it does make me want to be healthier. Ever since i was young, i loved healthy choices, and now im cutting back on that, which i really need to start having healthier foods. Recently i had popcorn, m&m candy, chips(alot of them) and a patty. I realize that in the new year, i really need to start watching what i eat because i wanna be healthy. When my dad comes home from the states, he always compares how big the portions are there compared to here. I mean, dont get me wrong because i LOVE food, and i LOVE having huge portions when i go to a restaurant, but i guess it depends if you go often. If you go to restaurants often, than you should have smaller meals and vice versa. I think we dont need to make bigger meals or anything because we have enough.

As i mentioned before, i couldnt even finish watching that video. It had me in disgust. I dont want to be drinking that everyday or even once in a while. Also, i think that if the tax went up, i wouldnt go out of my way to buy pop or chips, just for a treat. I definitely am going to pay attention now to the things that i eat.

Photo Manipulation on Hiatus in the Media

How do you feel about the photoshopped images gone bad? Can you think of any other examples where you have seen this and thought to yourself - "wow that looks strange!". Share one of those examples with us in your blog. Does it bother you that companies are constantly crossing the line with their manipulations - or do you see it as just the way it is? How about this new trend where models and celebrities are baring their make-up free faces and saying "no" to photoshop? Is it a trend that will stick? What about the idea of magazines and runways using "normal" people, like the young, the old and the size 16 ladies? What is your reaction when you look at a magazine spread that isn't all glammed up like we are used to seeing? Share any of your thoughts and ideas on any of these issues.

This is totally true and i think its kind of sad in the world today. Photoshopped images definitely turn bad. Sometimes when i look in magazines, i wonder how do they make her so skinny and why is her skin sooooo smooth. When i look at that, i automatically think, "I want that!" and truth be told, the only way i can get that is if i take a picture of myself and have a computer touch it up for me. Yeah, it does bother me alot. I mean i can understand if the model may have a blemish or two, but to slim them down to a perfect size and not make them look like themselves.. i have a problem with that. I wouldn't like it, if i was part of a model agency and i went to a photoshoop and they touched my body up. I would feel like thats not me, people wouldnt get to see me for me and only as this person people want me to be.

I love love love that celebrities are having photoshops done with no makeup. Its your true face, true beauty to bare. I think its great because you get to see the person behind the makeup. Dont get me wrong, alot of photoshoots are fun to do with playful makeup and all, but when it comes to makeup on photoshop i dont think its right. I think everyone should show their imperfections, because everyone has them. Everyone.

Because of these photoshopped ads, most young kids and teenagers are being sent the wrong message. The ads say "Look like this! Thats the only way you will be accepted!" Being a kid myself, i know how it feels and just on
e expression like that can change the mind of an adolescent. Its not right and i dont think kids should think like that because things can become worse if they dont look like that.

Sometimes when i watch runway shows a
nd look at the models and say "Has the designer ever thought that normal people may wanna buy these clothes and wear them." If they only show skinny models, then what about everyone else. Can they not wear the clothes because they have to be stick thin. I think they should have NORMAL people to model the clothes cause that gives everyone a little bit more self confidence. If having normal people on the runway cant happen, then i say that they should stick with the models they have as a MODEL of them wearing it, and have other sizes availabe for ANYONE to wear. That way the models are actual models wearing the clothes. Think of it as a walking mannequin.

I remember looking at magazines of some of my favourite celebrities without makeup. They are on the cover of great magazines. When i see or read that they arent wearing any makeup, i think to myself,"Wow they are gorgeous!" I want to look like that. But if someone says they want to look like that of a normal person, that isn't bad. You just need to make yourself feel confident and you will shine. Its all about saying to youself, "I am beautiful."

The Changing Face of Video Games

The question is, have games evolved enough to the point that they are beneficial to you, rather than detrimental? Or are they merely wolves in sheep's clothing? If they appear too good to be true, maybe they are. Are these new game genres still considered games or have they evolved into something new? What do you think?

This is
actually a really good point to bring up. During Christmas break i got a Wii for Christmas. I was really happy. Yesterday, my mom was looking at all of the games and things you can get for the Wii, and she was amazed. She didn't know they could have that many games and actually really beneficial and money worthy. I still have some of my oldest gaming systems, like the first nintendo, and the flip nintendo and xbox and everything. I have to say that things really have changed. I think from my personal experiences most games i get for my different devices work as good as they say they do, so they arent necessarily to good to be true.

Thats a good question. I dont know if they can be called games anymore. Like Wii's© and Xbox 360© are part of our life now. It may sound kind of ridiculous but almost everyone of my friends has a new gaming system. They can still be called games, but expecially for a Wii fit, i would call that something different. Maybe a lifestyle choice, i mean as long as it helps you. :)

Social Awareness Contradiction

1. I feel that the Dove Real Beauty campaign is awesome. I think it really shows that every single girl and woman can ARE beautiful in their own way. The media can really destroy the self-consiousness of a girl by saying how skinny they should be or how much makeup they should use. I think that the media can, not always, but alot of the time can have a nasty effect on people. The media will always say what the perfect thing is, or what the perfect wieght is, and I do not think that is good... at all. I mean how can you judge someone based on that criteria? That is not how you define a person. So i am a big fan of the Dove Real Campaign and i would love to be a part of it one day.
2. Uhm, I have not seen ALL Axe commercials, but the one that really makes me laugh is the Chocolate one, where the guy is made of "chocolate" representing the new AXE chocolate spray. This makes me laugh because one i love the music and the guy is quite funny. I mean i do not think that AXE does that, because truthfully I only like one or two of the smells of Axe. I LOVE armani or lacoste or other brands. So i don't think it works for everyone, which kinda makes me laugh because they think it does, but it doesnt.
3. Yeah. I think they do. I mean if ONE company is making two different kid companies.. i think they should be the same. Or at least have the same message. It is kind of wierd that those two companies are from the same parent company and they do not have the same message. I dont like that. I think that if you have one company and two kid companies, they both should have the same message. Meaning it should have the same beliefs and values.

Did they Really Say That?

This picture, in my opinion, is extremely contreversial. It is pretty much stating is that being a a certain way is wrong. And that is TOTALLY NOT the case! To me, its like this photo, just cries to make people upset about themselves because the advrtisement is saying "Eat as much as you want, and still stay thin!" It is just like how it is today. Some magazines say it is best to look like the celebrities in the magazines, when truthfully half of the people in the magazines dont look like that. I think this is a really bad ad because its degrading to alot of people. Its like saying the only way you stauy skinny is if you eat, unless you read this ad. I think at the time, maybe the company running the ad wanted to start a type of "diet", except they just did not word it correctly. There may be ads like this today. Some of them may include like Jennie Craig type of things or Weight Watchers, but that type of diet os more subtle.

This next photo i think gives an impact to women. It is stating that if you blow smoke in her face, shell for sure follow you? Its like shes a puppy? I dont think so. This image to me is trying to state that women are like puppies who follow men around or something. I dont exactly know, but this is not an ad i would like to see in todays period of time. I definitely dont agree with the advertisement.

I dont agree with this statement. Its not a nice saying. I dont even know how to express this.

Doctors aren't supposed to smoke!?!?! They know about all of the problems and diseases that can be caused by smoking! Also the ad is insinuating that if the doctors do it, and obviously they would know if it was bad for them, then every other person will be smoking. Also its like an endorsement towards their cigarettes rather than any other company.

Google Street View

Google Street View is definitely a new step to technology. After seeing the post, i didn't really know how i felt about the new "invention". There are definitely pros and cons to the new program, pros being you can find a house using the map if you are lost and need directions, and its is also useful for site-seeing. The cons being that it is a bit of an invasion of privacy according to some people, and some just do not want their homes on the internet.

For me, I like the fact that you can look anywhere around the world and search where places are, what people are doing and what the place actually looks like. It is almost like you are there, in a different country, state, etc without getting up from your chair. I love to look at different places of the world because it makes me feel closer to the world. Google Street View makes the world just a little bit smaller. I love love love traveling, so its good for people that love to travel or site see.
For others, it may be a disturbance and invasion.

So I think that if google were to change the street view up a bit, i think they should make it that we can see tourist places around the world, but that we wouldn't actually be able to see the homes. For example, i am a BIG Coronation Street fan, and i would one day love to take a tour of Granada Studios, where they film it. In the meantime, just finding where it is and being able to look at it, makes me much closer than before.

As some other posts have mentioned, Google street view has its pros and cons, as does everything else in the world, i guess, but it is really useful for many different reasons.
